The new model comes with an updated wiring loom and handle bar switch allowing you to select continuous feeding or pulse feeding for periods of up to 10 seconds. The Solway mobile feeder scatters feed from your atv or quad bike along the length of each feed ride and by planning your entire feed route carefully, you will not only save yourself time, but you will also see your birds become wilder with less wandering, leading to a better spread over the guns.

The unit has quick release fasteners and does not restrict the addition of a trailer. The hopper is moulded from strong polyethylene with a recommended maximum capacity of 60kg. The lid is designed to be easily tilted, and has an internal bungee and cord retainer, and the spinner has raised rolled edges to prevent spillage. The feeder scatters food in a fourteen foot spread, and although the flow rate is fixed, the feed rate can be controlled by a pushed button on the handlebars. The powerful 12vdc motor runs on the vehicle`s battery, a wiring loom and plugs are provided to fit most agricultural quad bikes. If you are fitting to a non standard vehicle we can make a custom loom at additional cost. Connection must be made to a fused supply 15 amp fuse rating. The feed rate is set based on using clean dry wheat. When feeding pellets or a mixture of pellets and wheat the feed rate will be reduced and you may need to "spin" for a longer time. It is not recommended for larger kernel such as whole maize of large sunflower seeds or the like, but we can supply a modified version for these large feeds at extra cost, please contact our sales or technical department for more information.

The hopper is attached to the ATV with sturdy aluminium brackets, and can be unclipped and removed in less than thirty seconds.

Important when ordering this item, please specify the make and model of the atv that you plan to use it with, as well as the measurements of the back rack. The back rack of your atv must be made of round tubular steel, the feeder cannot be fixed to the cheaper plastic racks for safety reasons. The back rack must also be parallel sided not tapered or shaped/curved. Fits standard racks 7/8 inch (22mm) round tube 36-42 inches wide or 90 to 108 cms wide. If outside these measurements please consult our technical sales team.

Please check with your atv supplier that your particular machine is suitable to carry the extra loading on the back rack. We only recommend specifically designed agricultural machines of at least 350cc, preferably 4WD. Leisure & sports machines are not suitable, high speed is not required or desirable 10mph max when feeding on level ground. Reduce speed and load on hilly or uneven ground. The Solway machine feeder is designed for OFF ROAD USE ONLY, if you atv is fitted with road legal lighting some adjustment might be required by your ATV Dealer.

The Solway Mule Feeder is suitable for most UTV`s, Mule, Gator, Kubota etc. If you are intending to fit the machine to some of the plastic bed models such as Polaris Can Am and some of the new Honda range of UTV`s extra strengthening / load bearing plates should be fitted on both sides of the bed by your UTV dealer. It can also be mounted in the load spaces of Landover`s, 4x4`s & pickups.

The unit has quick release fasteners which attach to a fixed plate in the carry space and this unobtrusive panel does not get in the way when the hopper is dismounted. The efficient spinner has raised rolled edges to prevent spillage. The powerful 12vdc high torque motor runs from the vehicle`s battery, via a very basic wiring loom provided with this item, (Does not include switch gear, relay switching or fusing link). Connection must be made to a switched, fused supply 15 amp fuse rating from the vehicle electrical system. We strongly recommend the use of a 20/30 amp fused relay in the circuit to protect the machine and vehicle wiring circuit. We can supply a custom loom to your requirements at additional cost, please contact our sales or technical department for more details. If you are in any doubt about the wiring to your vehicle please contact your ATV/UTV dealer or a qualified auto-electrician.

The utv tail-gate is best removed or in the fully lowered position. If the vehicle has a rear tipping mechanism this must be securely locked in the load carrying position.

This over centre clip is used to fix the solway mobile feeder to the rack of the ATV. All Solway mobile feeders are supplied with sufficient numbers of these clips, but it could be that a spare is needed. The item is supplied with fixing nuts and bolts. 

This spare spinner plate is a replacement part for Solway Trailfeeder, Solway Mobile Feeder and Solway Mule Feeder. It is made from long lasting steel to cope with heavy use, and comes complete with the two screws needed to fit the plate. We recommended that a locking compound (such as threadlok) be applied to the screws when they are being installed. 

Adjustable deflector plate suitable for fitting to either the Solway Trailfeeder or Solway Mule feeder. Directs feed towards left or right, narrow or wide spread. Direct replacement for factory fitted plate.

The HD version comes with an uprated wiring including inline fuse holder and handle bar switch, relay switching allowing you to select continuous or pulse feeding.This loom is standard fitting for most ATV Quad Bikes. This new version wiring loom is suitable for most Solway Mobile Feeders dating back to 1992. Models prior to the end of 2016 will require adapting to fit your older machine, please contact our sales office for details and additional cost. Please quote the feeder model number, serial number and date code when ordering.

Since January 2017 the new type of loom with new switch gear has been supplied with ATV mobile & trail feeders 1308, & 1311. This loom can be fitted to older machines but requires the "S" type plug to connect to the feeder. The older type round black bulkhead 3 pin plug and socket are now obsolete. Please contact our sales office to confirm your requirements before ordering. Suitable for SOLWAY FEEDERS OEM machines only.


Fitting the new type SOLWAY loom to your ATV

Remove sufficient body panels to enable an easy route for the cable.

Ensure it fits fairly loosely with plenty of spare cable at the switch end allowing for the movement of the handlebars and controls and battery box end. The cable can be clipped or tied to the frame of the atv but make sure it is clear of any hot parts of the engine or exhaust system.

The switch is prewired and connected to the loom and only re-quires mounting on the left hand side handlebar as close to the other controls as possible.

The other end of the loom connects to the battery with the ring connectors provided. The fuse link wire connects to the Positive terminal and the plain end ring to the Negative terminal.

Connect the 7 pin Grey “S” type plug to the feeder “S” type socket and check the operation of the feeder motor. Press the top red switch into the on position. For continuous feed use the mid grey switch. For intermittent / pulse feed use the lower red push button . When not in use turn off the top red switch

Refit and secure all bodywork panels and recheck operation.

This assembly can be retro-fitted to most feeders back to 2000 and in some cases a modified version can be made to fit machines back to 1992. Please specify the model and year of your machine when ordering. Comes complete with alloy boss. New mount features anti-vibration system as standard.

The feed rate is set based on using clean dry wheat. When feeding pellets or a mixture of pellets and wheat the feed rate will be reduced. If you are using this motor in a static /automatic feeder this may require increasing the feed period setting. If you are using it for any of the mobile feeders you may need to "spin" for a longer time. Please ensure these motors are connected with the correct battery polarity and have the correctly rated fuse in line 15amp.
 

ADR replacement stub axle for the Solway Trailfeeder. Can be fitted to most models from 2000 There is a four hole mounting bracket welded onto one end, which makes fitting a stub axle to a chassis easy. The pcd of the hub bolts is 100mm. Sold as a single unit. These units have sealed pre-lubricated bearings, however they do require regular maintainence and adjustment of the end float to ensure long life and it is recommended that you re-pack the hubs with fresh clean grease at least every three months. Failure to service, lubricate & adjust the bearings will void the warranty.

This axle is rated for offroad use only. Wheel bearings and maintainence when the stub axle is delivered the wheel bearings are not run in. After the first 12hrs of use the bearings must be checked and adjusted as follows: while rotating the wheel tighten the castle nut until there is a slight bind and all bearing surfaces are in contact. Then back off the castle nut 1/8 of a turn to the nearest locking hole. The wheel should rotate freely with 0.002-0.008 inch of play or end float. Lock the castle nut in place with a new split pin. Failure to replace this pin may cause the wheel & hub to come off the axle! Fresh clean grease should be applied via the grease nipple fitted or worked in by hand on the semi-sealed type. Models from February 2013 are fitted with semi-sealed pre-lubricated bearings. Do not over fill with grease as this will push off the hub-caps. Repeat for the other wheel. Ensure the hub caps are securely re-fitted. The wheel bearings must be checked and adjusted again at 100hr or one month interval whichever is sooner. It is recommended that at three month intervals the hubs are repacked with fresh clean grease and adjusted as above.

The 160mm spinning plate has raised edges to prevent spillages.The galvanised steel chassis and flexible mudguards are robust and long lasting.

We supply as standard the wiring and plugs to fit most ATV agricultural quad bikes.
